In Feb of 2022, Mike Morisi and Bill Carico met after "The Speakers Bible Study" in Richmond, VA (See 2 photos). They learned they had a lot in common and became fast friends. They have joined forces to educate the masses on what can be done to fix our badly-broken criminal justice system, and by assisting individuals who have been wronged.
Within a week of that decision, The Injustice Project became a international movement at alumni weekend at Roanoke College when some classmates coalesced after learning about the plight of the oldest daughter of Bill Carico ('73) and Patti Mahan Carico ('72). Tod Senne ('74) told Bill and J.B. ('74) about a vision he had in a dream. (see 2 photos) B.D. ('74) was already on board, as were several families in Texas and South Africa, and a national advisory board was organized and announced on Sept 15, 2023, the 9th anniversary of Katie's arrest.
Background
The media arm of The Injustice Project, was started by Bill and Patti Carico and their incarcerated daughter Katie, after their prison ministry grew to include hundreds of inmates in more than 25 prisons and local jails around the country. Many of this site's stories are based on direct interactions with inmates and their families since Katie's saga began on Sept 15, 2014. Katie's story is told in "Blatant Disregard: The Commonwealth of VA v. Katie Carico Hyatt." Mike Morisi's book is "It Was Never About Justice." Bill Carico's unpublished manuscripts are
"Profiles in Deception: A Historical Reset," and "Three Days In Texas" an audio book about inmates stories. Please visit the store for this site.
Scope
Our reach has grown to engage in the fight against numerous other social and geo-political injustices occurring all over the world, including exposing and rooting out corruption in elections. both historically and currently. During the summer of 2020, Bill organized the X4 Coalition to address corruption in politics, expose the depth of the deep state, and sound the alarm about rigged elections.

We are working on producing a documentary about Katie Hyatt's story, which we hope will include Gov Youngkin as the person who set her free.
There is a trailer for the documentary on YouTube, and can be accessed here: v.x4.com/2
Katie's book was officially released Sept 15, 2021. Initially and indefinitely it is available upon request as at e-book at no charge, but we do ask you to include a note telling us about why you are interested in her story. We would also like to hear about your experiences with the criminal justice system, especially if you're a victim, because victims rarely receive fair and just treatment.
Katie's last day of freedom was September 15, 2014, when she was arrested and eventually charged with 60 felonies pertaining to over 20 burglaries in Lynchburg and four nearby counties. Even though over $500,000 in jewelry and cash were reported stolen, investigators never found a money trail simply because Katie didn't commit any burglaries.
At the time of her arrest, Katie was a married mother of 3 young daughters and also the owner/operator of a consignment shop. Katie had purchased stolen goods from a customer... not knowing they were stolen. The customer who set her up subsequently disappeared and Katie's attorneys chose not to hire a private investigator. Instead they spent over a year pressuring Katie to falsely confess and ask for leniency if she wanted to see her daughters before they were grown. Katie was sentenced to serve almost 20 years without parole as a first time non-violent offender. Her punishment also included $150,000 in restitution to victims that she must begin paying upon her release. After sentencing she was moved to Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women, a Virginia state penitentiary. Due to her long sentence, she was placed in a unit with violent offenders including murderers. During this time Pastor Billy obtained all the case files from his daughter's attorney and began an in-depth review. He soon discovered her attorney had withheld exonerating information, missed at least three alibis, and failed to interview multiple exonerating eye witnesses that prove Katie's innocence. He also found another seven burglaries with the same MO in the same time frame that pointed to the real burglars.
Please email [email protected] to request a copy of the book, "Blatant Disregard - The Commonwealth v. Katie Carico Hyatt"
It is the first in a trilogy telling Katie's story. Among early reviewers, one woman said, "unbelievable...read 29 chapters today...can't stop reading." A man on vacation said. "What a story! Once I got started reading Friday night, I couldn't put it down and read all day Saturday, even while I was in the pool."
During the 2019-2020 school year, the manuscript and documents about Katie's story were successfully piloted as study text for an investigative journalism class. Consequently, the first book of the trilogy, along with the 5,000 page case file, including transcripts, police reports, and videos, is now available for reference and use in law and journalism classes free of charge.
Thank you for taking time to learn about the plight of so many innocent people who have been victimized by injustice, and to understand what needs to happen to correct and prevent such travesties. Please contact us at [email protected] with your questions or comments.
